Who we are

H.A. Law Advisory is an independent paralegal practice providing services in England. For anything to do with your personal information, email hashim@halawadvisory.com.

The information we collect

Through the enquiry form on our housing page we collect your first and last name, your phone number, your email address, the contact method you prefer, the name of the council involved, the type of housing issue, any decision or review deadline you give us, and any short summary you write.

We do not ask for medical records or for documents at the enquiry stage. If your matter goes ahead, we ask for the evidence we need separately and only when we need it.

Why we use it

• To reply to your enquiry and answer your questions.
• To decide whether your matter fits the services we offer.
• To explain our fees and give you a quote.
• To keep a record of your enquiry.
• If you instruct us, to carry out the work we agree with you.

Our lawful basis

We handle enquiry information because we have a legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us about our services. If you instruct us, we handle your information to perform our contract with you. Where we rely on your consent, we ask for it separately and you can withdraw it at any time.

How long we keep it

Enquiry records that do not become a matter are kept for no longer than 12 months and are then deleted. If your matter goes ahead, we keep a file for as long as our professional retention policy requires.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers who help us run the practice, such as our email and case management software, and where the law requires us to.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to erase it, ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it. Email us and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
